    NAS Whidbey Island, WA Housing and Relocation Information

    Housing Information
    Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) gives active service members two options for housing; living on post or finding a home off-post within the community.

    • Once you have orders to move, contact the Housing Services Office (360) 257-3331. They can answer all of your housing questions and provide services such as referrals, resolving tenant-landlord disputes, and guidance for entering lease agreements.

    On Base Housing 

    • Single service members required to live on base, contact Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH) (360) 257-2038 for assistance.

    • NAS Whidbey Island on-base housing is privatized and managed by Hunt Military-Pacific Northwest Communities (360) 679-4241, which offers over 450 3-4 bedroom homes in the Crescent Harbor Community based on rank and family size. Homes may include carport, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer hookups and master bedroom with en-suite bath. The communities are within close proximity to parks, playgrounds, fitness centers and more.

    Surrounding Areas
    Oak Harbor is a small city with 22,000 residents. It is located on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound off the mainland of Washington state. Island County has a total population of just 78,500. Off post housing is most conveniently available in Oak Harbor and Coupeville, all other communities on the island are over 45 minutes away. These include Freeland, Greenbank, Langley, and Clinton. Anacortes, a city of 17,800 people, is 30 minutes north on Fidalgo Island. Everett, a major city north of Seattle, is about an hour south of Whidbey Island on the mainland.

    About the Installation
    Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is home to Ault Field and the Seaplane Base. There are 19 active duty squadrons currently based at NAS Whidbey Island, and the air station maintains a Search and Rescue unit which uses three Sikorsky MH-60S Nighthawks. Over 50 tenant commands are also located on the Island which provide training, medical and dental, and support services for Whidbey's staff and Marine Corps personnel.
